Birthday Wish-list

1. An undisturbed shower
2. Shaved legs
3. Hairstyle other than a ponytail
4. Night out with ALL of my boys
5. 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep

Outcomes:
1. Got a shower. There was only one baby (Cole) standing outside the door and pounding on it. An improvement from the usual routine.
2. Partially complete. It went well until Cole decided he was finished waiting.
3. Got it. Not exactly given to me, but I took it upon myself to make it happen.
4. Got it and the boys were really good, despite serious teething distress.
5. Yeah right. That's why this was a "wish" list.

This list is distinctly different from any previous birthday lists. I will never again take the vain and selfish luxuries of numbers 1-3 and 5 for granted. As much as I might miss those current luxuries that were once simple daily tasks, I am fortunate to realize that I wouldn't have it any other way. What would I do without the blessing of wishing for number 4?

Brent worked really hard to ensure I had a nice day. We had a really fun dinner out with the boys, which we very rarely do and I got a chance to go shopping ALONE in the evening.

We had some excitement with the trick candles complete with fire alarm and melted ice cream cake. (Don't worry. It was still palatable. I single-handedly consumed its entirety in 3 days. Sick, I know.)

Keith and Cole loved the balloons they got and had a chance to try some new foods: cantaloupe and french fries. All in all, a day very well spent.

Happy Birthday!!! I rarely get to take a shower or bath by myself. Hazel can hear water a mile away and all of the sudden there is a naked little girl wanting in. Luckily the boys are past that. :) Looks like you had a good time. My birthday is coming up, Tom's parents are going to be here and all I want is for them to watch the kids so that we can go and see the new Harry Potter movie. Sad I know. Of course we will take the newest one with us. :) Before that my parents and grandparents are coming, I am really looking forward to the next 2 months. :)

Happy Birthday!! So glad you found us...we got your site off of Sean & Jeanette's a couple weeks ago too :) I loved the Man Up! blog, Jaron and I have been saying that phrase every since we read it!

Happy Birthday! I like so many moms can so relate to wanting to shower alone. Sometimes for me isn't so much that they want in, but for their safety. If my son particularly is not with me, he is in trouble FAR from me. I was impressed with myself tonight when I was able to shave with two personages in there with me and I got no knicks and I have improved my balancing capabilities once again. Ya'll are such a beautiful family and I am so grateful for the joy you are able to have in your life with them!

Why is that list just too close to home? I know what you mean about how birthday lists change over the years. There was a time when sleep, showering, shaving, all were easy...now they are birthday lists? Sad for us. Luckily with the lack of sleep, the hairy legs aren't much of a problem.

Happy Birthday!!!! I knew I was a mom when I asked for new towels for my birthday. :-) That picture of the boys holding hands is SOOO cute! You've got to save that one for the future wedding videos!

Happy Birthday Darc! Wow, we are getting old, eh? Seriously, I shouldn't remind us of that! I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday with your boyzzz. I've succomb to having to shave only the "necessary" sections of my legs (like parts that people will see if I'm working out, or if I have a skirt on for church.) It's amazing what a mommy has to do to get a complete set of shaved legs, blow-dryed hair and 8 hours of sleep. I'm still waiting on the 8 hours of continous sleep! Until then, way to go on having accomplished so much over the last year! You truly are inspiring!

Does this mean the boys aren't for sale any more??? What if I put them on my birthday wish list? Love the pics! Your hair looks great!!--did you dye it? I like it dark like that. Glad you had a good bday! Love ya!!

Happy Birthday D! I love your wish list, soon you will see number 5 fulfilled. ;)

To Smartchelsea: sorry the boys are currently off the market. They've shaped up and are now sleeping through the night as of late. I'll let you know if anything changes. And no, I didn't dye my hair. It must just be my superior white and freckley skin that offsets my hair so nicely.
Miss you!

You look great and I am glad to see it takes 3 men to accompany you on a date :)
I love the shaving part - Theo barely lets me shave too - VERY FUNNY.
Sending you lots of hugs and kisses...

Darcee,
That is so cool you have twins! I saw your link on Meri Hartel's blog. She was one of my freshman roommates. How do you know her?
