Lots of changes from the boys lately. They are keeping us busier than ever! In the last week alone, the following items have been partially or fully consumed by one of the boys: toilet paper, a dirty wipe, a leaf, moss, paint chips, dry wall, notebook paper, a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon, and various "unknowns" off the kitchen floor. The boys are more mobile and faster than ever. Cole is pulling himself up everywhere, including in the tub which has been a bit scary. Keith is pulling himself up on things that are short. It's tough when you are just a little peanut! He's still the usual instigator in wrestling matches, although Cole has begun to use Keith's head as a step stool occasionally. Yikes!

We finally have teeth! Keith has a couple coming in at once and is braving it like a man. Cole has one that is extremely crooked on his lower gum line. Brent has been calling him Sawtooth all week.
In addition to the usual political discussion between us, Brent and I have been debating the subject of the boys' hair. Brent seems to think that a military crew cut is the only way to go and keeps insisting that we cut the boys' hair. I think the little wisps that are starting to curl are so cute, so the debate continues...I'm certainly not cutting it right now, but I'm afraid I'll come home from YW one night and find Sargent Burnett giving boot-camp-haircuts to his infantry.

Sleep has been a challenge lately. They were up at least 3 times a night and once even 5 times last week! They've been doing so well for several months, so this is a HUGE step in the wrong direction, but they seem to be self-correcting in recent days. At least we hope. Part of the problem is their "Fireside Chats" between the crib slats. I'm tempted to separate them, but I'm afraid they'll miss each other. As soon as one of them wakes up, he is looking for his brother. Once they spot each other, they yell and bounce up and down. It's hilarious!

Both boys love being outside. As soon as we bring them in, they start crying. Cole kneels by the back door and just pats on the window like a sad little puppy dog.

They both share a common love for Porter the Puppy and Barry the Bear. And they love knocking down block towers. They each have a very different approach. Keith knocks down from the middle and has to make sure that every block is out of place. He just keeps attacking until they are spread out everywhere. And Cole carefully takes the top block off and then examines the tower to decide his plan of attack next. He doesn't seem to care if he destroys the whole tower or not. It's very interesting to see the differences in their personalities. We love to just observe, especially when they are interacting with each other. It's entertainment at it's best for our household.

I felt so guilty when I turned around and saw Keith fast asleep. He'd fought a nap all day and once he finally sat still, he crashed.

I know both boys are tired when they start snuggling with Porter instead of attacking his nose.
And in other news...
"Snick" is Official!

Syd got engaged to Nick 2 weeks ago. I was waiting to post until my Dad and Shea heard the news. They were traveling in Ireland when the SoCal beach proposal occured. Looks like we'll be taking a trip to Newport next May! We are so excited to have Uncle Nick join the family! And we'll miss Aunt Syd while she's supposedly "studying" in Paris this fall.

I love hearing about life with your boys! And the pictures are great! Baby Ray did a similar night time alteration when he was about 8 months old. He just suddenly starting waking up and needing us and a bottle and who knows. It lasted a couple of months and then went away to my complete relief. Good luck though I hope it is short lived for y'all!!
You should write... I love reading your posts because you are so entertaining! Your boys are so cute and are getting so big! i love hearing about them. Just out of curiosity what are the political stances you two have? Not that I know much, but I would like to hear what Brent has to say just bc I like hearing... Yes Julie told be Sydney got engaged:) When can you get together? Want to have a BBQ this weekend or next? Why was your dad and Shea in Ireland? I love that your dad is a ball of nonstop energy!
The boys are so cute, they sure are getting big. Congrats with the engagement. Where are they getting married? She gets to go to Paris too, lucky gal.
Logan goes through spurts with his sleeping too. I think it is normal for boys, but who knows. Unfortunately he pulled a screaming all nighter while camping. Not good.
Yay for Sydney! That is awesome news!
Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard when I read the list of things your boys have eaten! Sounds all too familiar. We are so happy for Sydney!
Love-Shanna
Remember right after the boys were born and I came to Boston and we did the "photo shoot"--they both fit on Porter. I cannot believe how big they are getting!! I hope the political debates continue and that the boys aren't too heavily influenced by their father. They may need to spend the summer in the nations capitol with Tia Favorita so they can get a real political education!!
I say leave the curls! They will only have them for so long and it looks so cute on little boys. I heard about the dirty wipe incident. It's a good thing Cole (I think it was Cole) won't remember that!
Don't do it, Sargent Burnett!! I say leave the curls because they most likely won't grow back. It's the sad sad truth to those beautiful wisps:) Sargent Brent Burnett will have the rest of their lives to shape and mold their hair any way he'd like, including the good ole' bowl cut:) As for the boys, do they come in flavors, because I could just eat them up! Darc, you are raising one heck of a family (Brent too!!) Miss you.
