Fashion a la Manly

Keith and Cole have been severely lacking in summer clothing. To avoid our hot house, I ventured out to find the boys a new summer wardrobe. Besides the challenges of finding closed toed sandals small enough to fit Keith that were not intended for a newborn, and then buying and returning 3 different pairs of shoes for picky and hobbit-footed Cole, I felt proud of my purchases.

At least I was proud until I realized that the Fashion Chief for all things Manly, aka, my husband, would need to approve all wardrobe decisions for his "manly sons." Two of the t-shirts I bought were vetoed.

The first shirt was light blue with a large orange fish eating a shark. The Chief's response to the shirt: "That shirt looks like a girl shirt. Maybe you could save it for our little girl."

Hmmm...call me crazy, but that doesn't exactly scream feminine to me.

The second shirt had cartoon fish on it. The Chief's response: "That shirt is just too corny."

The Chief went on to explain that a good guide to purchasing clothing for our sons is to buy things similar to what the Chief would wear. Hmmm...I did my best to take him seriously as I eyed his current ensamble which included a ratty and very wrinkled Polo shirt I bought for him in high school over 11 years ago.
Forgive me for not recognizing a fashion guru when I see one.

Sigh...Gotta love him, along with all his manly opinions.

Oh my goodness.... that is hilarious! Chris picks out things for McKenna and well.... they usually get vetoed... but that is for good reason! We're sad we won't see you at the reunion but hope all is well with your princess! Did you guys pick a name yet?!

I veto Brent giving fashion advice! Actually he has a pretty good eye-remember when he bought Ellen that dress for her birthday or something and not only did it fit her he was actually cute. I assume the Obama t-shirts I got the boys were vetoed before they even got out of the box?!!

I'm with chels. Since when does Brent overrule K/C's most fashionable aunts? (chels, syd, and dare?) We are the fashion queens and should be allowed to veto all of Brent's decisions.
PS I can't wait to buy girly things for my niece! She's going to be darling and hopefully the fashion police won't veto her outfits for being too "corny." can't help it that the smarts are just plain corny.

Hey Mr. Chief, I'll make you a deal-I won't ask you about dirt bikes and you cease being the fashion police! P.S. Maybe it's time to get rid of the shirt you've owned for 11 years.

It must just be a guy thing, they can't dress themselves, but they think they know what looks good on others. I know BP has made those same comments a few times over t-shirts for Cohen. Don't give in Darc, stay strong!!

Three men are tring to agree on fashion and function - I think that is problematic!
Boys clothing is SOOO lacking, I feel your frustration...
And sadly, the variet grows even less as they get older: khakis and polos from 2+
You are lucky to be having a girl next...
Hugs,
S

I think you do a great job dressing the boys! I don't know about Brent's fashion advice. It sounds like something Clint would say about some of Caden's clothes. Good luck finding manly enough clothing for 18 month olds!
